The Graduate Program in English at the University of Kentucky is widely regarded as among the best in the country, with an exemplary record in faculty research and graduate student training, research, and job placement. We score particularly well in two areas: faculty publications and graduate student placement. The Department of English has an excellent placement record with students obtaining positions at the University of Arkansas, Kansas State University, University of North Dakota, Gonzaga University, Cardinal Stritch University, Chicago State University, Marshall University, and Western Kentucky University.
 

Graduate Study in English

The Graduate Program in English at the University of Kentucky currently offers three graduate degrees: a Master of Arts in English, a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing, and a Doctor of Philosophy in English.

The department offers a range of courses in British, American, African American, Women’s Literature, Creative Writing, Film, and Literary Theory. English Department programs are made possible by a nationally recognized faculty, a strongly supportive University of Kentucky Research Foundation, an active university press, and a research library of 1.2 million volumes.
