Carter Davis Johnson is a PhD candidate in the English Department. His primary scholarly focus is the literature of the American West, specifically intersections of philosophy, environmentalism, and literature. His dissertation explores the concept of dwelling through the work of John Steinbeck, Jack London, and Robinson Jeffers. Along with these Californian modernists, he is interested in broader arena of American modernism, aesthetics, social theory, and theology.
