Ariadne Alexis Macquarie (she/they) is an MFA Candidate in Poetry and serves as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the College of Arts and Sciences. She is originally from Western North Carolina but has spent time living in both Southwest Virginia and Northern Arizona. Her work focuses on queer and trans narratives within the broader context of life in Southern Appalachia. Her debut poetry collection, Flame Azaleas, is forthcoming. She is the editor-in-chief of On Gaia Literary Magazine and a former Poetry editor for the Roanoke Review. Her work is featured in Black Fox Literary Magazine, The Black Mountain Press, The Engine Idling, and elsewhere.
