Alexis Draut (she/her/hers) recently earned her MFA in Creative Writing at Chatham University (Pittsburgh, PA) and is currently working on her Ph.D. in English Literature at the University of Kentucky. Her writing, both scholarly and creative, revolves around environmental literature, the earth and its places, creatures (both human and nonhuman), and sustainability. In her doctoral work, Alexis plans to look at the realms of creative writing and academic scholarship from an ecofeminist lens, studying the writing from the likes of Octavia Butler, Robin Wall Kimmerer, and Camille Dungy. She has published her poetry in journals such as The Social Justice Review, The Scrib Arts Journal, Internet Void, and The Perch Magazine. Alexis is a native Kentuckian, born and raised in Louisville.
