Dear English Department staff, grad students, and faculty,
On behalf of The Committee Formerly Known As DEI, we write to invite you to a department-wide town hall to discuss our department's current situation. Considering the recent events that have taken place in the last weeks and months within our community, we want to offer a space to discuss all of our concerns, questions, uncertainties, and else in a welcoming and friendly setting where our diversity, equity, and inclusivity will be prioritized.
The town hall will take place on Friday November 3, at 4pm in White Hall Classroom Building, room CB 114. We are aware that this places an extra burden on everyone's already busy semesters and that the town hall will occur during a time outside of our regular operating hours. Because we want to make the event open to everyone, we decided to schedule it when no classes are taking place. We therefore thank you in advance for your understanding and for any sacrifices you might make to join us.
Additionally, to let everyone voice their concerns and ask questions safely, we have created an online form where you can submit questions anonymously (and respectfully) to be read and addressed during the meeting. Please submit your questions here.
We will do all we can to keep the space open and amicable, so please join us with that attitude in mind—we do not want to generate further animosity, but rather hope to begin finding a shared ground and ways of moving forward.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
Yours,
TCFKADEI
