Preparing Future Faculty

Graduate students in the University of Kentucky English Department have many opportunities outside the classroom to develop as professional scholars and prepare for a career in academia.  Students in the coursework phase of their program are encouraged to participate in the English Department's Literary Theory Group, which brings faculty and students together to discuss major schools and methods in literary theory.  Students who are in the writing phase of their program are encouraged to participate in Let's Write!, a shared writing program that helps graduate students to create and maintain momentum on a dissertation, article, or other writing project.  All graduate students are expected to participate in the scholarly events sponsored by the department, which include visiting speakers from outside the university, as well as the Works-In-Progress and PostScript series, where faculty discuss their experiences with the manuscripts they're currently writing or have recently published.
